Short-Term Rental Registration

Short-term rentals, defined as any dwelling unit that is rented for less than fifteen (15) days, have a longstanding presence in Kennebunk and the market continues to expand due to the increasing popularity of online rental platforms. As we experience this continued growth in short-term rentals, the Town is dedicated to upholding the safety of these units for its residents and visitors. 

To address potential safety issues, the Town's Ordinance Review Subcommittee has drafted a Short-Term Rental Ordinance, including a proposed registration and inspection process

Community feedback is an essential part of this process and we want to hear from you. The Town will host an Informational Meeting on Short-term Rentals to discuss the proposed changes and hear feedback on a potential registration process. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. in Town Hall Room 300-301.

Following this informational meeting, the Ordinance Review Subcommittee will consider feedback, present the ordinance amendments to the Select Board and the Select Board may then decide to send it to the voters for final consideration.
