Concealed Weapons Permits

Concealed Weapons Permit Application

The Application for a Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) is available to download online. Please return your completed application, in person, to the Kennebunk Police Department. Bring official photo ID such as a Maine driver's license, and a check made out to the Town of Kennebunk for the appropriate amount listed on the application. A passport photo must accompany each application that is submitted.

Applicants may access a copy of Town Ordinance 3-7, entitled Firearm Discharge Ordinance on the Ordinances page. Per Maine State law, a gun safety course must be taken prior to receiving a CWP. If you are renewing a CWP that was issued prior to April 15, 1990, you are exempt from this requirement. As well, individuals with prior military service are also exempt; however, a copy of a DD214 must be supplied.

Training Classes

Individuals looking for gun safety courses could check with local Gun & Rod Clubs for offered classes or could visit the following Web sites for area trainings

The Kennebunk Police Department does not endorse one training program over another, it simply offers some suggestions to those seeking local training classes. CWP Applications take approximately 6 to 8 weeks to process.
