Climate Action Committee

The Towns of Kennebunk, Kennebunkport, Kittery and Biddeford, along with Southern Maine Planning and Development Commission were awarded funding to share resources and experiences in developing community specific Climate Action Plans.

Climate Action Plan - approved by Select Board on 5/14/24

The Climate Action Plan Task Force, consisting of staff and various stakeholders, created a Climate Action Plan process and plan development.  This Plan was presented to the Select Board for adoption on May 14, 2024.  The plan contains 22 strategies that assist the Town in guiding future policy development to reduce the vulnerability to impacts of climate change, enhance the resiliency of the community and reduce the community contribution to Greenhouse Gas Emissions. It is the intent that by pursuing the implementation of the strategies in the CAP that the public will be more engaged about efforts to address climate change, the Town will be more informed as it develops budgets and pursue grant opportunities in support of climate goals while building a sustainable local economy that improves community health and livability.

The Climate Action Plan is a dynamic document and may require ongoing revisions or updates to align with changes as the plan progresses towards implementation.
