Safety & Prevention

Across the United States fire departments respond to an average of 1 home fire every 86 seconds. On average, 7 people die in U.S. home fires each day, with cooking the leading cause of home fires and injuries. Kennebunk Fire Rescue works to educate and empower the community with fire safety and prevention programs in the hopes that we can all help make the world a safer place by learning more about how and why fires start.

Smoke Alarms

Smoke alarms save lives. Smoke alarms that are property installed and maintained play a vital role in reducing fire deaths and injuries. If there is a fire in your home, smoke spreads fast and you need smoke alarms to give you time to get out. 

Kennebunk Fire Rescue has partnered with the American Red Cross to offer free smoke alarms and installation to anyone in Kennebunk who cannot afford them. Please contact us if you need assistance obtaining, installing or inspecting a smoke alarm in your home.
