Curbside Trash & Recycling Collection

In 2015, the Town began an automated trash and zero-sort (also known as single-sort) recycling collection program.  Each residence is issued two 64-gallon wheeled containers. One container is identified for trash and the other for recycling.

On July 1, 2025, the Town  joined with 26 other communities in the ownership of Ecomaine, a trash to energy facility, for the disposal of the town's Municipal Solid Waste and recyclables.  Ecomaine also services over 50 other associate and contract communities for solid waste disposal.  FMI on Ecomaine.

Do we need special bags for household trash?

No. Household trash (what should be thrown in the trash) may be placed in any type of regular household trash bags (white/black, etc.).
