Flood Plain Management Ordinance and FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps

On June 11, 2024 the Town approved amendments to the Flood Plain Management Ordinance for the Town of Kennebunk.  The Flood Plain Management Ordinance establishes a Flood Hazard Development Permit system and review procedure for development activities in the designated flood hazard areas of the Town of Kennebunk, Maine.  Adoption of this ordinance allows for the Town of Kennebunk to be eligible to participate in the National Flood Insurance Program®. 

With the adoption of the ordinance, the updated Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) are effective as of July 17, 2024.  The Flood maps may be viewed in the Community Development office and online using the FEMA Flood Map Service Center or the National Flood Hazard Layer Viewer.
