Town Manager Recruitment Process

Background

In January of 2022, Kennebunk Town Manager Michael Pardue announced his retirement after more than forty years of municipal service, with the last six as Kennebunk Town Manager. 

Per the Kennebunk Town Charter, the Select Board is responsible for appointing the Town Manager. 

Recruitment Process

The Town solicited proposals from experienced executive search firms to assist in recruiting applicants for the position of Town Manager.

The following three proposals were submitted for consideration:

On June 7, 2022, the Board selected Strategic Government Resources (SGR) of Keller, Texas to lead this executive recruitment effort.

Public Input

In June and July, Mark McDaniel of SGR, who is serving as the lead consultant in this initiative, sought public input on the characteristics, skills, knowledge and abilities desired in Kennebunk’s next Town Manager.  Residents were encouraged to call or email Mr. McDaniel with their comments.  

Virtual Community Forum
On July 14, 2022 SGR hosted a virtual community forum to solicit citizen input on the characteristics, skills, knowledge and abilities desired in the next Town Manager. Attorney Durward Parkinson served as Moderator of this "Zoom" event.
